A Blog I Never Should Have Read

CURRENT MUSIC: THEME OF 'TRIUMPH IN THE SKIES' by FLORA CHAN

As usual, I'd like to start my post on a rather happy note, since this entry is going to be one that will have different kinds of feelings running through me as I type it down.

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who made my sister's wedding on 25 Nov such a success, especially Nick's 'brudders' and Dawn's 'sisters', and those who attended the dinner, as well as any other people who helped in the cause in one way or another. Really appreciate every individual's efforts, including those of the hotel staff. It felt great to sit at the VIP table, and I was glad my sister was a very happy woman that night. Although I had to spend on my suit and other stuffs to prepare for this wedding, it was all well worth it as I was glad to receive positive comments that night hehe. Anyway, will update once the pictures are ready.

Next, to those who remembered my 20th birthday, I sincerely thank you all and appreciate it lots. To those who didn't, it's ok..I still love you all :] well I am guilty of forgetting some of my frens' brithdays too at times..but I want to thank these people especially: Henry, Jiv, Jay, ZZ, Simon, Albin, Wei De and Victor..THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL PRESENT and I really love the Adidas Bag that you all shared to buy for me..bloody hell you all are my great buddies man!

Ok, with that, let me start. What actually inspired me to finally blog after such a long absence was the fact that I had chanced upon my former classmate's blog. You see, he was one guy who apparently hated me during our JC times (I only knew that he hated me so much after reading his blog) because he thought that I had backstabbed him in some sort, and pointed me out especially for the split-up of my class into two main factions: he claiming his 'gang' and my 'gang'. Initially, when I read his blog I was really hurt, or rather, affected by some of the things he said about me. Well, things like Bast***, Shi*, Fuck*r,and more vile words aimed at me, as well as occasionally blasting my other classmates whom he thought made him like a total fool. I really didn't think he disliked me to such an extent, since he DID NOT express it so explicitly when we met in school. Guess he vented all his frustrations on his BLOG and criticized me for alot of things..I shall not go into it here.

I just want to make it clear to HIM although he most probably won't see this entry:
1. I am NOT what you described me to be as in YOUR bloody blog
2. All the time you lambasted me on your blog that I speak with no actions, how about you, if you aren't happy with me, tell me IN MY FACE!
3. Regarding your saga with a certain gal, I did what I thought was right and please, DO NOT MAKE IT SOUND AS IF you are a fucking victim out of everything. I can't possibly tell you to stop liking someone so I encouraged you out of goodwill to keep going. Is THAT wrong?
4. IF YOU CAN'T GET A GIRL, don't blame others. Ask yourself why the girl wasn't attracted to you and try to improve on it. QUIT COMPLAINING that others are handsome and that you are fuckface.
5. For the record, I DID NOT usurp the 'throne' as you said of being the CT Rep in class. PLEASE, like I give a damn about that title. You can have it all you want.
6. YOU GOT YOUR STORY WRONG. You were NEVER the class mascot at the start of the term and neither everyone's best friend, at least not for me.
7. And quit your paranoia. Since when do I always stare at you during lectures? For fuck's sake if I wanted to stare you'd be the last person I'd stare at. Crazy.
8. You ASSUME too much. Very interesting story of me trying to upset your GOOD FRIEND by taking the same bus as the girl he liked. Dun be childish can, so I can't go near a girl that you or your fren has a liking for? Moreover, we both stay in the east and are classmates so I don't get your point seriously.
9. You claim I go around telling people I will fail my tests and results, and then I end up with full marks for my Chem Prac. And, you keep harping on that...no other examples to quote? That was the only occasion FYI, the rest of the times I said I would do badly and I really did, at least not to my expectations. FYI I got D E O O for my prelims, you cool with that? So BLOODY ASS STOP using the same example in like 200 of your entries?
10. Don't let your jealousy get the better of you. Touching a girl on her shoulder is an outrage of modesty? THEN THE WHOLE OF VJC males has committed it at least once. I'm surprised you even bother to count and observe the number of times the guys in my 'gang' did that. And there is a difference between molestation and making fun of them. DUN EXAGGERATE.
11. If you hate me that much, why haven't you deleted me on your MSN contact list? Thanks to Meebo, I discovered you still have me. For bad-mouthing me behind my back, you deserve to die and I have already removed you from my list.

The bottomline is, I think you should go do a reality-check on yourself. I don't hate you for writing such vile comments about me, but after reading your blog, I've learnt something really valuable: You can't please everyone in life. Some will hate you, some will like you.

You are the first person I know that really hated me so much. If you count your two good friends in your 'gang', I guess that adds up to 3. And all because of the girls you and your friend liked that caused so much unhappiness between us.. enough for you to conjure up such a wonderful storyline that had me as the main actor, and with other classmates not in your 'gang' serving as a marvellous supporting cast.

For my former classmates who happen to be reading this, you should know who I'm referring to.

Do You Still Dare To Wear CROCS?

CURRENT MUSIC: HU SI LUAN XIANG by K-ONE

Before I start on the main topic for this entry, I'd like to recommend a recent movie I've watched: THE GUARDIAN starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.

I'll skip the storyline and stuffs la, you can always read those in other websites that offer better content. But the director's pick for Ashton Kutcher to be one of the movie's main actors was spot-on. His acting definitely surpassed my expectations and I can't think of anyone else that can do his role at this moment in time haha. I really want to recommend this show because I enjoyed it throughout. Go watch it if you haven't before it's too late!

CLEMCUBE rates THE GUARDIAN: 4.5/5 for it's great storyline.

Pity I did not have the time to watch THE PRESTIGE and THE DEPARTED because I also heard from my friends that they were great shows to watch as well. And I've decided to give THE COVENANT a miss becuase Qisheng told me it wasn't good. Guess I don't want to waste my precious money on bad movies...I've had bad experiences haha..need to spend the money elsewhere :]

Well, on to the main topic..not to sound offensive or anything...but what's with toddlers losing their toes these days? 2 cases in 3 days is a worrying sight, hopefully not more to come man..I feel sorry for those two kids who lost their toes, and if they are still suffering from their traumatic experience (come on, wouldn't you be shocked to have lost a toe to a seemingly harmless escalator?), I wish for their speedy recovery.

The question now is: Who is to blame? The escalator? The kids for sticking their feet near the sides of the escalator? Or the type of footwear they were wearing? Coincidently, the footwear of the toddlers who lost their toes were believed to be wearing CROCS, you know, the very popular rubber sandal-like footwear with many holes for your feet to breathe (If feet could breathe haha)?? Yeah that's it. If you read The Straits Times Nov 7 edition, there was an article in it which quoted experts saying that studies have shown that rubber-material footwear are more prone to get stuck at the sides of the escalators as compared to normal footwear material like leather or canvas.

Well, personally, I do not want to condemn those people who spent $50 for a pair of poser footwear but don't you think it's really dumb to get footwear which endangers your feet? Yes, I admit I was once fascinated by it's design when it first came out but after seeing the amount of people blindly following the trend it really began to put me off. And, after thinking long, I began to question myself on why I even contemplated on getting a pair for my own use. $50 can give you 25 plates of delicious Chicken Rice ya noe? Haha..

Now, with toddlers increasingly facing the risk of getting their toe severed, who dares to purchase any more CROCS? I bet sales of CROCS have significantly plunged down by at least 50% after the first incident. I even hear that imitation CROCs have decreased their sale price as well...if it ain't cheap enough..now you can get them for $3.90 instead of $5.90! Haha...roadside vendors do follow news too, apparently..Are the parents of the toddlers affected now going to file a lawsuit against CROCS? Hehe..that would be interesting eh..although highly unlikely becuase there is no real solid argument to justify how CROCS have caused the unfortunate incident directly... ultimately the toddler's legs are controlled by himself/herself..not CROCS! Haha..

CROCS seems to be the next bubble tea phenomenon in any way you look at it. People are going crazy over it, and it will just die down soon enough..maybe faster than expected due to such unforseen ciurcumstances.

Will you still buy CROCS? If they slash their price by 50%? Will it still appeal to public?

ClemCube Goes Vien

CURRENT MUSIC: JIANG JUN LING by WU KE QUN

Due to increasing pressure from his peers to give a dinner treat as a result of his successful enrolment into Monash School Of Medicine, Henry magnanimously agreed. So he decided to give his closer friends a wonderful treat at this international buffet place called 'Vienna' @ United Square. It cost him 40 per person which meant a total bill amounting to 160. Haha pretty expensive you would say but I will do the same too because I think it's a great achievement to get accepted into a good school famous for that area of study.

At first look, the food in the buffet looked promising. I thought that for 40 bucks, it was natural for them to have seafood, sashimi, and other exotic stuff...they even have abalone rice! Which was actually pretty disgusting so I did not try..Their bold attempt at making shark's fin soup failed miserably as I could tell it was fake on my first taste. It tasted like latex (raw material used for manufacturing rubber), or at least I think it would. But Hian Liang was really satisfied with their dessert selections..which included some Jap ice cream, Chocolate Fondue (although the choice of fruits were few), and cheesecakes. Complement these with hashima and fruit cocktail, I do not have much complaints about their desserts.

However, I will like to comment on their Teppanyaki, it was awesomely YAK-KY. Their chicken and beef were served in overwhelming portions, and while it was the same for their lamb and fish, at least the latter didn't taste that bad. And the vegetables were much worse. If you go there never try that. Finally, their Pasta counter was fucking low-standard too. Their pasta sauce was hard to consume, and it didn't help when the serving looked so watery, nothing like those pastas you can find in Pastamania or even Cartel. Give me 40 bucks and I can cook much better pasta for you to eat man...

The highlight of the restaurant was their tea. All four of us showed our dark side when we took home quite a number of high-quality teabags when we were not supposed to..haha..but heck we didn't care. Apparently it was to make our money worth, since I was kinda disappointed with their main courses...

CLEMCUBE ratings for VIENNA International Seafood & Teppanyaki Buffet Restaurant:

Food: 2.5/5
Environment: 3.5/5
Price: 1/5

Overall: 2.5/5

CLEMCUBE will most likely not go there for a buffet meal in the future because it is too costly and considering the quality of food served there, CLEMCUBE maintains his stand that the 40 bucks per head is far too expensive and not worth it at all.

Here are some pictures taken by Henry during the buffet dinner...Hian Liang!! Send me your pix pls!!!

Henry and Myself

Hian Liang can't stop himself from indulging in the chocolate fondue..he kept standing next to the chocolate fountain and no one else had the chance of coating their fruits with chocolate.

ZZ accidentally chewing on plastic while consuming a plate of sushi. Should have seen the look on his face...looked really dumb haha.

The outstanding selection of tea @ Vienna

Sorry man, we still did it.

Also, I would like to take this chance to wish Hian Liang all the very best in whatever he does in Edinburgh...ORD LOH! Have fun studying dude! Don't let me catch you with a white chick next time man haha!

Oh..OCT 30..HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RUSSEL!! Happy balls to you and meet up soon ok joker!

The Ugliest Premiership Players

As the title explains itself, let me present to you ClemCube's list of top 10 ugliest premiership players. Disclaimer: Clemcube has nothing against these players, and just personally feel that they are born with such looks and can't really change it unless they go for plastic surgery or some sort.

10. Diouf (Bolton) - This guy looks like some silly twat asking for a beating. He scores freaking tyco goals and his nickname 'The Serial Spitter' really complements his sickening looks.

9. Traore (Charlton) - Go to the net and search for his pic and tell me your honest opinion.

8. Campo (Bolton) - If this guy changes his hairdresser I might consider taking him out of the top 10 list. Why does this guy insist curly hair suits him best when it's obviously not the case?
Wonder what is the growth rate of lice in his hair. :p

7. Darren Bent (Charlton) - Looks like a total brute to me. Maybe it's his big mouth or something?

6. Chimbonda (Tottenham) - I don't know. Maybe he should have been higher in the rankings but he really looks ugly to me. Haha.

5. Kuyt (Liverpool) - I gotta be fair man. Although I love this guy and am a Liverpool fan, there shouldn't be much debate at him coming in at 5th. He is very white and his hair colour doesn't really help things. But things aside he will achieve great things at Liverpool!

4. Murphy (Tottenham) - To me, he can't be any uglier. Realise that his head is shaven such that there is a sharp end at the center of his forehead? WTH, it makes him look worse really.

3. Adebayor (Arsenal) - This guy was originally my top pick to be ugliest of the lot. But I changed my mind. Scroll down to see who made the top 2.

2. Bullard (Fulham) - He looks really old but is considerably young. Similar to Kuyt, his skin and hair colour just don't match and hence the ugliness. Who can possibly be uglier than him, you may ask? Anyway, ClemCube would like to wish Bullard a speedy recovery from his horiffic leg injury.

1. Kanu (Portsmouth) - Clemcube's pick for ugliest premiership player. Do you agree?

Please post your valuable comments...tell me if u think there are other players worse than this lot of 10..

Frightening Friday

CURRENT MUSIC: BEN CAO GANG MU by JAY CHOU

Let's just say I'm lucky enough to be sitting down in front of my computer blogging right now.

It was something which I really did not expect to happen, and something which I hope will not happen for the rest of my life again.

For those who still don't know what happened to me, I was involved in an accident on Friday. For those who witnessed it, it's really up to you to judge whether you felt it was minor or not. To me, being involved in an accident was bad enough for me, so yeah...to think at one point in time I thought I was going to die..haha..guess I was really fortunate to have escaped without any serious injuries. In those sort of situations, anything could have happened. But because the other car who knocked into the car I was sitting in was speeding, the impact was rather overwhelming and it caused me to suffer from a whiplash or some sort. To make things worse, I was sitting closest to the smashed part of the car,and the collision caused my chest muscles to jerk suddenly and this forced motion caused me to suffer severe pain in my chest and neck area for a few days.

And my dear colleagues, please believe me it still hurts a little until today (Damn it I'm not faking it or chao-keng lor!!). I'll probably give it a few more days to see whether the pain eventually subsides, if not I think I will seek the doctor's advise again.

I really don't want to go through every detail about the accident..Many people have told me that I can actually seek monetary claims from the fucker who smashed into the car I was sitting in that fateful day...I did think aboout it. But since Human(name not mentioned to protect identity) did not want to blow matters up, I will respect his decision. After all, he fetched me to the destination out of goodwill so I shouldn't give him more trouble. You know the thing about money and claims and whatever, the paperwork really makes you go mad..

Anyway this whole incident is over and we should just move on...an unforgettable experience and maybe a lesson for other drivers out there, SAFETY FIRST, NO MATTER WHAT.

With that, I shall sum it up with this poster:

The Thing About Clubbing

CURRENT MUSIC: BRIGHT LIGHTS by MATCHBOX 20

I've been thinking long and hard about how I should go about writing this entry. I still do not know how I should start, so I'll just write whatever comes to my mind. Here it goes..

Just last night I had another clubbing experience as I visited Gotham Penthouse. Apparently they were having some NUS bash there, and Hian Liang managed to grab some tickets from his friends and stuff so I told Hian liang I didn't mind checking it out. We asked Henry too and he agreed so reluctantly to tag along haha. It was a rather boring night to say the least, not what I had expected definitely. The place was freaking small and there was hardly any room to explore. Sad to say, I thought their toilets were the nicest thing around. In actual fact, I saw alot of people I knew during my VS and VJ days but they were just mere acquaintances and I din felt like saying hi to them so in the end I didn't.

There were lots of pretty girls around, most of them walking around only with a piece of cloth wrapped around them, either promoting beer or tequila shots. Up till now I still can't believe 3 of us got fleeced by these two stupid girls who kept bothering us and kept insisting us to be brave and down 1 tequila shot each. It's not about being brave or not havin enough guts to drink, but we knew they had ulterior motives and stuff so as tough as we tried to resist, they eventually fed each of us with 1 shot each. We are some fucking dumbasses to have succumbed, in the end, the gals gladly told us to pay 8 bucks for each shot. To make matters even worse, they shortchanged me! Claiming they didn't have enough change to return me. Blardy sluts! I wish you get raped someday seriously..I don't give a shit whether you are a FHM or SNAG cover girl...the fact that you robbed me of my money, you deserve to die!! Guess the breakdown of the 8 bucks will be: 1 dollar for the shot + 7 bucks for the feeding service by the girls. Haha..

After yesterday night, I will gladly say that, in my opinion, clubbing is a total waste of money and time. It increases your risk of contracting lung disease too, because of the fact that you inadvertently inhale smoke around you in the clubs. To conclude, don't go clubbing unless you have other intentions.

Why do people want to go clubbing? For guys, I get it because they want to get to know more girls and hopefully be able to pick some pretty chick on the dance floor and stuffs. It is such a sad case beacuase to me, when I think of clubbing, words like 'lust', 'sex', 'temptation' naturally come to my mind too..It's hard to not think that when you go club you are actually seeking for lust. I'm a guy too, so I understand if guys do want to club. But how about girls? WHY WHY WHY do they want to club?

Do they, like guys, hope to meet some hot hunk and maybe hit it off from there? Or do they seek the 'highness' that is derived from drinking alcohol and dancing to the club music? Why do a minority of girls want to stoop so low to sell themselves for the sake of money? Don't they think it's a very unglorious(As Henry always says it) act? Just take last night for example, there was this other woman who fuckin hell tried so hard to make me buy some beer so that she could earn some commission. She touched my arms here and there, pleading with me whiningly, and at one point even rested her head on my shoulder like I'm her boyfriend or some sort. Fuck you la! No matter wad you do I'm not gonna buy your beer can, I'm not like any other Caucasian who would normally give in once the girl pulls in some tactics to persuade you to buy. But thanks for the effort though, I loved that short feelin haha! (Comon, I'm a man too! Haha) 30 minutes later, I saw the same girl dancing with these two other guys and brushing her whole body against those guys. Disgusting, and I was totally turned off by that act. So.. Do these women think it's really fine to earn quick bucks by doing these things? I dunno man.. Girls who are frequent party animals..aren't they worried about the tremendous risk of getting drunk and subsequently being taken advantage of? Hmm...

To be honest with you, I'll be very worried if my girlfriend loves to club week in week out. I will seriously feel uneasy that she is hanging around at these kind of places and mixing with alot of other guys whose background is shrouded in anonymity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that clubs are a decadent place to be in, but why waste huge amounts of money just to get yourself 'high', or wasted, and next morning waking up to feel a sharp pain in your head?

Just my two cents worth on clubbing as a hobby..or wadever..

Here are some pictures taken yesterday night:

For My Teachers

CURRENT MUSIC: ANGELS WINGS by WESTLIFE

How appropriate.

Today is teacher's day and I have decided to pay a tribute to the teachers who have taught me before and whom I think deserves my respect. This idea originally came about thanks to Kian Guan, whom I met on Wednesday for dinner. Haven't met him in a real long time already, and it was nice to have been able to catch up with him @ Parkway that day.

We dined at Crystal Jade Kitchen where I had my favourite roast chicken and duck porridge, while he made a wrong choice in ordering 'Fried Rice With Egg And Crab Meat'. His dish was overstuffed with vegetable cubes and it looked too green to be edible for a plate of Fried Rice. The portions of REAL crab meat (not those red and white cylinder-shaped stuff you can get in supermarkets) were miserably little and the food was definitely not worth the price of $10.90. So don't order that dish for your next dose of crystal jade, for you might regret it. :)

Let's get back on track here.. after dinner we played some pool and chilled out over at McCafe where we talked about alot of things during our VS days. If only we could turn back time and experience those days again...I guess girls will never understand how fun life in an all-boys school can get. So many crazy things we are capable of doing and stuffs.. I wonder how the teachers in VS were able to cope with it last time. Haha.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my teachers in VS and VJC whom I tot were outstanding in one way or another, and at this same time, I would like to blast some of my teachers too whom I think are not fit to be appreciated on this very meaningful day.

Ms Lau Hui Bian(Sec 1 Maths)
Thanks for being such a bitch and always looking down on me. I remember there was once I did not study for my Maths Test and eventually failed, you lambasted me like hell and made me felt like some dumb fuck. You also criticized me for not putting in much effort for Maths. HELLO. Get your facts rite. Maths is my favourite subject, and why would I not be putting in effort for it? Thanks to your castigation, I so bloody wanted to prove you wrong and I got an A for my subsequent Maths Test and Exams during Sec 1.

Mr Anuar Ikhwan(Sec 1 Geography)

I think he is both a fantastic teacher and a friend. He teaches well in class and almost all his lessons are so interesting. He listens to your problems too and he is just an amazing individual. Full respect for him. So lucky to have been in his form class for Sec 1. And in truth, he was one of the main reasons why I joined Concert Band as my CCA and I have never regretted since then.

Mrs Ho Beng Huat(Sec 2 Maths)
As strict as she can get, I feel she is actually one of the best Maths teachers VS has to offer. She teaches her topics clearly, gives you a tremendous amount of homework to do so that you get to reinforce the concepts thoroughly in your head.

Mr Jimmy Chan(Sec 2 D&T)
You are the man. You truly wanted us to learn. I remember you so graciously gave us the answers to every test questions before every D&T test itself. You were one amazing teacher with your unique style of teaching. Respect is all I have for you.

Mr Alvin Lim(Sec 3 A.Maths)
You could really connect with us. One who taught us well, was like a brother to us, and never angry with us even though we may have upset you in some way or another. Kian Guan was telling me how you gave him that one vital mark for E Maths during the prelims so that he could push his grade up and have an L1R5 good enough to enter VJC for the first 3 mths. Amazing teacher who understands how much pressure students face to perform well in their studies. Kudos to you.

Mr Wang Jun(Sec 3/4 Chinese)

I respect him for his passion in teaching. Although I always slack and doze off during his lessons, I know that he really wants to share his knowledge with us. He is brilliant in the language and he just needs to improve his teaching skills. The 'A1' I scored for Chinese@O Level is specially dedicated to you.

Mrs Lee Kian Soon(Sec 4 Chemistry)
One hell of a great teacher. Just explains why she is HOD Science. Really teaches so well that you have to understand the concepts. If you do not, you can always ask her and she is always there to help you out. She doesn't believe in scolding her students, and she earns full marks for that.

Mr Richard Phua(Sec 4 A.Maths)
He is what you get when you mix an emotionless individual, some cold humour and lots of great teaching. HOD Maths, he proved me totally wrong when I tot he could not teach as well as Mr Alvin Lim. He teaches the concepts with clarity, and is another teacher who gives tons of homework so that you can reinforce the topics taught in class.

Ms Loh Sing Huay(Sec 4 Biology)
How can I forget you? The best Bio teacher by miles in VS. You will always be a great teacher in my heart. The 'A1' I got for Bio@ O Level is dedicated to you.

Mr Michael Lim(JC Physics)
I enjoyed almost all the Physics lessons with you in JC times. You made us understand Physics topics so well even though we always skipped lectures..you always joined in the fun whenever me, HJ, Ken, Koay and Russ talked bullshit in class. And when it's time to be serious you always are. A teacher young at heart, he totally made me enjoy Physics for 2 years even though it wasn't my favourite subject. You know, you play soccer real well. Missed those times when we talked about Liverpool's performances after lessons haha..I'm sorry I let you down because I din do well for my Physics@A Level.

Mr Lim Cher Chuan(JC Chemistry)
You are one biased bastard, looking after the best students in the class and always neglecting poeple like me, HJ, Russ and others. You only look at results and it's true. If I'm not socring well you will just leave me to die. It's kind of different treatment to different groups of people. Being in your class was a bad experience because I always think that I'm unimportant to you. For that, thumps down to you.

And finally,

Mr Basil Chan(JC Economics)
Fun-loving and crappy teacher. He teaches economics but is so anti-economics. Haha. His lessons are interesting most of the times and he tries his best to get the concepts across to us. During the time between my prelims and As, he spent time and tutored me personally to correct my mistakes on econs essays and I was glad there was significant improvement. Thank you Mr Chan.

Conclusion:

For those I have commented, thank you for your hard work. For the two people I have played down, you don't deserve my respect and I hope you have actually changed for the better after I graduated. For those I did not or forgot to mention, happy teacher's day nevertheless! Your efforts will definitely be appreciated by me in one way or another in my heart.

Thank you.

ClemCube Tea Break Recommendation

CURRENT MUSIC: GALLERY by MARIO VASQUEZ

Went lunch with my dad after my session with the dermatologist today. Haha my skin seems to have improved, but I'm still hoping for better results, having spent so much of my savings on these skincare professionals..

We lunched our main course at 328 Katong Laksa (the one opposite Ampang Yong Tau Foo, that is the authentic Katong Laksa, if you've not been eating your laksa from there, you are eating fake Katong Laksa) along East Coast Road. I love the Laksa there because the soup base is rich in coconut...:p

But my recommendation for this entry will have to be the traditional coffee house a few shops down 328. The name is Chin Mee Chin Confectionery situated right next to Chapel Rd, which is near some church (it's pretty obvious) along East Coast Rd. We went to have some light snacks after the Laksa meal and I must say the food there is delicious! The shop has an incredible antique setting, just like some Hainan Kopi House in the 70s. Their tables are made of marble, even the chairs are almost matching, and when I went in there, I almost felt like an old man reminiscing fond memories (I'm full of crap). Their Kopi-O was fantastic and suited for my taste (I like it thick and not too sweet), served in those porcelain cups which ensures your coffee is kept warm for the longest amount of time.

Then there is their signature dish: Bun-style Butter-Kaya Toast. That is something you definitely must try if you happen to drop by. Soft on one side and toasted on the other, the taste is just perfect. Their kaya is better than Ya Kun's as far as I'm concerned (maybe Ya Kun's standard has dropped tremendously ever since they started on their franchising spree)..and I'm really impressed with such an idea to make toast using these hamburger buns. Most importantly, the setting and the food eaten there matches almost perfectly that it makes people feel so comfortable having snacks there.

ClemCube rates CHIN MEE CHIN CONFECTIONERY: 4.5/5

You might want to note that besides toast and Kopi-O and tea, they also sell a variety of pastries and also their delightful sugar rolls...

Drooling now?

Singapore Idol Season 2

CURRENT MUSIC: NA YI SHUN JIAN by DAVID TAO

I'm dying to know how the Singapore Idol judges honestly feel about this competition, about the 6 remaining contestants being the '6 best singers' in the competition. They must be kicking themselves in their faces and asking themselves 'How did Joakim appear in the top 28?' Come on guys you gotta admit Joakim's singing is full of crap (If he could make it to the top 6 by singing like that I could make it to the top 12 at least), so the judges actually have themselves to blame for putting Joakim into the top 28 in the first place.

I feel really sorry for the young lad ya know, he must feel bad for being so popular among the girls, with Gayle, Jay, Mathilda and Rahima all being his victims so far. Does he really want it still knowing that his singing is actually nothing special? Is he hoping he'd get out soon to end it all finally? It's so sad really...to know that people out there are voting for image rather than pure vocal talent.

I've got to say, even though she is my friend (acquaintance, to be precise), Jasmine hasn't performed up to expectations (but she really has a great voice). She is still surviving in the competition because of her cutie pie image. She has to choose the right songs (I think slow is good for her) really. I watched the Asian Pop Spectaculars last night and she chose Tata Young's 'I Believe' to sing. She was struggling la...it was actually quite bad. And her dress sense and makeup just got to improve. She makes herself look totally horrible on stage, and coupled with her choice of bad songs, it's hard for the judges to praise her on anything at all.

Twohill is another guy whom I'm not the greatest fan of. He thinks his bloody fantabuloustic hair can get him all the way to the finals..we'll see. Keep his fringe so long, swipe here swipe there, it really pisses me off and I think hez just acting like an idiot. He can sing but is blardy inconsistent. And I had no idea why the judges were so impressed with his Chinese song last night, but I certainly wasn't. His pronounciation is way off and he keeps doing his trademark slangs, you can't do that for Chinese songs unless you think you can match Jay Chou in terms of singing ability. He should go out as soon as Joakim leaves.

If there is still hope that this competition will be a success and that a top-quality singer will be produced, HADY MIRZA is the one that should win the competition based on pure vocal talent. Extremely versatile, as justified by his song selections week-in and week-out, he can attract the crowd to sing with him and he is by far the best out of the top 6. It would be an injustice I feel if he doesn't make it to the top 2 at least. His malay song yesterday totally shut Ken's mouth up and his English song rocked like hell. I believe Singapore won't make the wrong choice in voting him out tonight, just like how they did for Mathilda.

Although, I would love to see a Singapore Idol Grand Finals featuring Joakim Gomez VS either Jasmine Tye/Paul Twohill/Nurul Maideen! HAHAHAHAHA.

Happy Birthday Pok Pok

CURRENT MUSIC: PROMISCUOUS by NELLY FURTADO

Before I start with what I intend to write in this entry, I just want to share with you my viewpoint on a certain issue.

If you have been taking public transport to the airport recently, you would realise that everytime before the buses can go into T1 and T2 they will actually be halted by a policeman at a security checkpoint. The policeman then makes his way up the bus, walks right down to the rear, in the process looking left and right at regular intervals. Once he is convinced that the bus is not jeopardizing the security of the airport, he gives a thumps up and gets off the bus, finally allowing the bus to move on. This whole process takes on average about 2 minutes. Apparently this is one of the many measures taken by 'I dunno who' to enhance security in Changi Airport. But, if you ask me, I seriously think this is crap. I think the policemen will say the same thing too, it's just that they probably have to follow orders.

Come on, if I were a terrorist of some sort, would I make my bomb so visible for policemen to catch me? All they do is just walk up and down the bus and check for any suspicious article on the bus. They don't even check your bags in the first place, meaning, I can just hide my bomb or whatever dangerous crap inside my bag and the policeman can't even see it! So, may I ask, are the security guardposts leading to the bus interchanges a necessity? I think they should just scrape this crap idea and move on. Since it's not necessary, why even install a guardpost there in the first place? It's funny to even think of it. If you want to do a check, do a thorough one, agree? Sometimes, I really wonder how the policemen working there feel about this. Do they ever think of themselves like some stupid fool checking the buses for litter? I'm sorry if I'm insensitive but I'm not against them in any case. That's all I got to say.

Sunday afternoon is never a good day to hang out. That's because you gotta squeeze with all the other Filipino maids in public transports like MRT and buses while on your way to the destination. I remember yesterday as the MRT passed Paya Lebar, a swarm of Filipinas just came storming into the train, there were at least 20 of them I swear, and the train was so packed. It was literally Filipino land. Apparently the huge influx of maids was caused by the location of City Plaza (a hotspot for those maids), which was situated near Paya Lebar and that's why there were so many of them.

I watched 'The Break-Up' with Henry and the twins at Marina Sq that afternoon. The movie is pretty much average. But Vince Vaughn was hilarious and Jennifer was still pretty although she is fast approaching 40. Yeah. It's really normal and there's really nothing spectacular about the show. I wonder if we should have watched 'My Super Ex-GF' instead. But 'Click' would have definitely beaten these two movies by a thousand miles. Haha.

Attended Pok's birthday function in the evening at the expense of Terence's farewell dinner (I'm really sorry, how I'd wish it didn't clash). It wasn't as HAPPENING as I had expected haha. The food...eh I would have prefered Chinese food but the food last night was fine :) But it was really kinda weird as Pok didn't go with the conventional cake-cutting. Instead, she claimed that cup-cakes were the IN thing right now and that was exactly what she planned. Haha, 1 cup-cake for each person. The icing on the cup-cake was horribly sweet and for a moment I tot I would get diabetes. But for me it was just great to see my classmates again. Especially Anthea, Jacq and the never-changing Meiqi! I finally knew where Anthea was studying and it was good to see her doing fine. Megastar Rebecca arrived late because of her President Star Charity's rehearsal, but she was still acting cranky as always haha...Hopefully I will grab hold of some of the photos taken yesterday..that's provided Becks ever come online. Haha.

(: HAPPY BIRTHDAY POK! :)

hope you liked the Mango outfit and the Aldo necklace shared among us...

The Opportunity Cost of $1200

CURRENT MUSIC: WHAT'S LEFT OF ME by NICK LACHEY

*ClemCube has a story to tell. The story is about Clementine.

Clementine(Name changed to protect identity) is a soon-to-be 24-year old who likes to watch soccer. He catches up with news concerning global football frequently from different soccer websites. As such, he thinks it is really easy to predict match outcomes and feels he can be a soccer pundit. Very soon he started to pick up gambling on soccer with Singapore Pools. Wins and losses cancelled each other out, so he didn't really earn from gambling. But still he thought he could win big someday. He became more compulsive each day. His gambling habits were made worse with the World Cup setting in this year. Eventually, the tournament ended. Once again, Clementine had a World Cup gambling campaign with no profit and no loss. Therefore, he still thought lady luck will smile on him someday. Then disaster struck....

He even began betting on soccer leagues which he didn't have much knowledge on. And the bet values became bigger and bigger by each day. The inevitable happened. Clementine went on a losing spree and lost $300,$400,$500 respectively. He had lost $1200 just like that to the damn government when he could have spent it on something much more meaningful. Think of the opportunity cost with $1200. Even mahjong won't have caused him to lose so much in a day.

So he sat down and began to self-reflect. He urged himself to stop this compulsive streak of his. He promised himself he will stop for awhile to prevent excessive bleeding. He realised that betting was really harmful and told himself to calm down. He shouldn't be gambling heavily because he told himself there's no way gambling will bring him his fortune. He hopes he can quit eventually, if not play small and know his limits. He is glad he woke up his idea in time.

*Disclaimer: The content of this story is only true to a certain extent. Some parts are exaggerated so as to alert people that gambling is really unhealthy. Clementine's plight is really not as serious as what was described above.

Over here, ClemCube would like to advise people who are gambling heavy to cut down on their bets. Playing for fun is okay, but if addiction sets in, the consequences might be really dire. And if you know that you are on a losing spree like Clementine, stop and don't continue. Always set aside a sum of money that you can afford to lose if you wish to gamble for fun. Never touch money not intended for betting or you might be left to rue on your foolishness.

Anyway, back to normal blogging. IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED TOKYO DRIFT AND YOU INTEND TO, PLS DO NOT SCROLL DOWN...*SPOILERS AHEAD* STOP READING HERE!!!

I watched Tokyo Drift this afternoon at home(thanks to Victor's Media Services) since I was on MC for the day. Typical action flick with a very shallow plot. But I liked the drifting of the cars and I think its freak cool. Although I didn't really like the main guy's acting, I thought the girl was cute and the main actor's Japanese mentor (Han) was really cool to the max(He may look plain-looking to you but I think hez cool coz of the way he carries himself). It's such a shame he had to die near the end of the movie, but I sorta expected it to happen. Just shows how predictable this kind of movies are. Apart from the drift, I feel the other aspects of the movie are not worth your money(Oh please, thats why it's CALLED Tokyo Drift). Still preferred the previous installment 'Too Fast Too Furious' which had a better cast including Eva Mendes and Paul Walker :)

My Theory Of A-Tap-Chi

CURRENT MUSIC: FEI XING BU LUO by F.I.R

Looks like dessert vendors are also starting to use shrewd tactics to cut costs in the wake of price increases in Singapore. I'm sure you know what are atapchis (I dunno the proper word for that), those grape-shaped nata-de-coco like stuff you can find in dessert ranges?? Yep, I was having a bowl of chendol at the food court nearby my place and after having that bowl of chendol, it confirmed my 'observations' over the past few months: Vendors always give 2 atapchis per bowl of desserts, and somehow or rather one atapchi will be chewy and soft while the other one will be hard like wood. Have you felt the same before? It happened alot of times to me already man. Haha.

Do vendors mix two types of atapchis, namely Grade A and Grade D atapchis, together so that the probability of getting one Grade A and Grade D per bowl is the greatest? Let us work out the calculations:

Assume 1 bag contains 50 atapchis, we have 1 bag of Grade A and Grade D atapchis respectively:

P(2 Grade A in 1 bowl) = 50/100 x 49/99 = 49/198 (24.7%)
P(2 Grade B in 1 bowl) = 50/100 x 49/99 = 49/198 (24.7%)
P(Mix Grades in 1 bowl) = 2[50/100 x 50/99] = 50/99 (50.5%)

As you can see, if the vendors have really been doing this, then they are quite smart to use the law of probability, because to get a good bowl of dessert (2 Grade A atapchis) it is only a mere 24.7%, while 75.2% of the time you are not enjoying what you have been paying for fully...

Interesting insight dun ya think?

My New Love For Tennis

CURRENT MUSIC: FANG SHENG by FAN YI CHEN

I have been playing some tennis recently and I'm already in love with this sport. It's a great way to work out the body as well as build up the arm muscles as tennis involves the technique of swinging your arm to hit the ball over the other side of the court. I'm even contemplating to sign up for tennis courses after I ORD or even better still, hire a tennis coach! Haha.. Madness.. Anyways, just bought my new tennis racquet. The brand is PRINCE and its made of Titanium. The racquet is really light and I can't wait to start using it next week. Promise I'm gonna thrash Henry's ass with his new racquet of mine! Haha. Thing to note: Queensway really sells cheap racquets...or least I think so. Mine is a considerably good one and it cost me 85 only! :)

And how is this for Liverpool's new home kit for the upcoming EPL season? I'm so glad they decided to change it from Reebok to Adidas haha! I'm definitely goin to purchase one of these when I have sufficient funds to spent haha..

If you have been watching TV ads, I would like to share with you my opinion on this particular tourism ad. Recall the 'Taiwan' ad often shown on TV recently? I think its fuckin ridiculous, I don't even understand what they are trying to convey! Their slogon 'Flying High Flying Taiwan' is already absurd, to make it worst in the ad they hav this woman and a fat man flying around parts of Taiwan. What for? It's totally laughable and ridiculous and whoever made this ad is a joke. Total flop. I'm not going to be least attracted to go to Taiwan with such advertising? Never! Haha...but with that said..I still wanna go Taiwan because of the food...the Karaoke there and everything...I feel food is such an important aspect in attracting visitors to Taiwan but why didn't the ad show any of these? On the other hand, I tot the HK tourism ad featuring Daniel Wu and that reather pretty woman was really good. Taiwan should start learning from their Hongkie frens on how to make better ads. Well, if I ever get a chance to visit Taiwan, you must be my food guide Grace! Haha...

Resurrected

CURRENT MUSIC: BEAUTIFUL LOVE by TANYA CHUA

You must have been wondering where the hell I have died to, and why I haven't been updating my blog for years. Since the last post from now I think it has been over 2 months or so?

Then, you might want to ask me, why even bother to start updating again?

I don't know. I just feel like writing something again I guess, but you probably won't get to see frequent entries as compared to last time because I will most likely be too lazy to come online to do blogging. Yes, I admit that I am totally lazy to blog. Haha.

Sometimes I have this funny feeling that keeps teasing my mind: Why am I writing down all the happenings in my life and letting other people be informed of my daily activities? Am I deprived of attention? Do I blog truthfully? I ask myself my main purpose of blogging. Is it to attract other people to visit your homepage or issit really an attempt to write down my personal thoughts just like that of a diary, only that I store these thoughts in something called a blog?

There is this kind of blogging which I would like to term as "selective blogging". What this basically means is that people only blog about good stuff, positive things that they encounter in their daily lives, but never will they release embarassing encounters of themselves in their blogs, or discuss factual things that will portray a bad image of themselves in their blogs. In my opinion, most people want others to look at their blogs and think that they are leading a damn HAPPENING lifestyle, and in turn make a lot others envy the blogger. Probably self-satisfaction derived from the blogger? Do you consider this as a form of showing off by the blogger?

Probably the best kind of blogs I have visited are those that discuss about current affairs and their viewpoints on certain issues (eg. Marina Bay IR, Education Systems). It's kinda interesting to see what bloggers have to say in these issues. Then there are blogs like those of MR BROWN, MIYAGI, KENNYSIA etc. which are real farni, like those podcasts at mrbrown.com are those stupid photos that dear Kenny captures. Other than that, I think other bloggers are just deceiving themselves through blogging (includes me, I dun even know what made me blog in the first place). In my opinion, I think at least 60% of bloggers out there don't even know their main purpose in blogging. Does XIAXUE even know her main purpose in blogging? Maybe shez just blogging because of the tremendous amount of visitors to her site. Haha. But the plus point for her is that shez turned into a blogging icon for her exploits.

If you're a blogger, just ask yourself why do you actually blog?

If you think what I wrote above was all total bullshit and crap, you can choose to ignore it. Maybe it really is. :) I mean, after all, everyone is entitled to their own say.

Still can't believe the bloody Swiss lost.
They suck.
And the whole world will be watching France win tonight.

Into the world of taxi drivers

CURRENT MUSIC: WHERED YOU GO by FORT MINOR feat. Holly Brook, John Matranga

I'm really satisfied with myself. I've been hitting the gym on a consistent basis and I can feel that the gym workout is really paying dividends. So friends, if you need to slim down or whatsoever, don't wait, head to the gym now and I'm sure it will help your cause.

I shall discuss about taxi drivers in this entry. What inspired me to write about taxi drivers you might ask? It all started from a real cool conservation with this particular cab driver, who happened to be really outspoken and we talked about his experiences as a cab driver while driving me down to a certain destination. Have you ever wondered how hard it is to be a taxi driver? I bet some of you think that driving a cab is really easy money, but a cab driver's income is seriously unstable and anything can happen anytime while you are working on your shift. Some points I'd like to share about a taxi driver are listed below:

1. TAXI DRIVERS GET PISSED OFF WHEN THE PASSENGER WHO CALLED FOR A CAB DOESN'T TURN UP.

This is something that cab drivers face everyday and they cannot do anything about it. Put yourself in the driver's shoes. Someone calls for a cab, you are driving around and the on-call destination hapens to be in the vicinity, you accept the job and drive down to take that passenger. But when you reach the destination, no one's there. So it is either the person played a prank on you or he/she has taken another cab without informing the hotline to cancel the order.
Aren't you gonna get pissed with such a situation? I certainly will and I will curse that person to hell. What audacity to call for a cab and in the end become so irresponsible of your actions! Who suffers? The cab driver. He could have picked up some other passengers while waiting for nobody.

2. THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES WHEN THE PASSENGER CAN ESCAPE EASILY AND NOT PAY THE FARE.
Take for example during a traffic jam. You are driving a cab and stuck in the centre lane of the road. The traffic is so slow and the fare meter keeps on increasing. Your passenger gets fed up and decides to leave the cab without paying the fare. He/She opens the damn door and runs away. How? The fare is 15 bucks. Are you going to give chase and leave your cab unattended? Or are you goin to accept the fact that you are down on your luck? Think.

Another instance would be driving the passenger down to his/her desired destination. You ask for the fare but the person confesses that she/he does not have enough cash in hand. He/She gives you everything that he/she is left with in the wallet and tells you to take it or leave it. Are you still goin to demand for the exact fare? The person cannot pay, so are you going to drive him/her down to the police station and leave matters the the police? The person won't be dumb and allow you to do so rite, so he/she would have escaped long ago. So what do you do?

3. MISCELLANEOUS PROBLEMS ARISE RANDOMLY.
This point refers more to female passengers and how they can make use of...you know what..to distract or even threaten cab drivers. I'll give you an example. A sexy pretty hot(wadever) babe enters your taxi and she flirts with you. While you're concentrationg on driving (let's assume you really are, haha), she caresses the back of your neck and even your cheeks. In an attempt to stop her you brush her hand away from you. The woman accuses you of molestation. Ok you didn't but no one knows you are innocent. Thereafter, she blackmails you by demanding a free ride to her destination. Are you going to accept it or are you goin to blow the matter up and fight to the end, where in worst case scenario the law can come into action? If I were the driver, seriously I will just blame my luck and choose the former.

4. NOT KNOWING ROADS WELL CAUSES YOU A SCOLDING FROM MORE DEMANDING PASSENGERS.
So do you know where is Chiku Rd? Or Teck Guan Rd? Or wadever fucked up road name you can think of? Your passenger wants to get there and expects you to know the way. You dunno. And you gotta check the road directory. So some problem passengers will scold you so badly and hurl insults at you, claiming you are wasting their damn 'precious' time. In other cases, they accuse you of taking advantage of their lack of knowledge of roads to bring them in cricles before reaching the destination. Assuming you are an honest driver, you just gotta tolerate with their nonsense.

I'm sure there are many other interesting things that can happen to a cab driver while he is on shift. I hope that this insight on cab drivers will help you understand them better. The next time you call 65521111 (Damn it I'm not promoting Comfort), make sure you wait for the assigned cab and be responsible. Every occupation has its highs and lows, more often than not the latter more than the former. Haha.

Are you thinking twice about being a cab driver after you past your prime?

Chicken Rice@Downtown East

CURRENT MUSIC: QING ZHU by RAINIE YANG

It's crazy. On two occasions I went down to the newly opened Chicken Rice stall at Downtown East after my gym workout, looking forward to trying the $5 set meal as advertised on TV, but to my dismay I never got to try it. The fucking long queue totally put me off. Business is going crazy at that stall and I could not stand the wait and in the end I decided to settle for other foods instead. Trust me, it's crazy. Never am I going to wait 1/2 hour for my chicken rice. Haha.

I wonder if I will ever get to eat it.

Saturday Night@Marine Parade

CURRENT MUSIC: EVERLASTING by BoA

Before I start on this next entry, I would just like to thank my Mum for whatever she has done for me and the family. Although I always dislike the way she keeps nagging at us, I know deep in the heart that she actually cares. It's just maybe she doesn't know how to convey her message across tactfully, which probably upsets my sister frequently. She cares greatly for us, and for that, I am thankful. I just want to let her know that I really appreciate what she is doing for this family.

I still recall not long ago I was down with illness. Feeling so weak in bed, she was always asking if I was feeling better, and when my fever ran high, she helped prepare a cloth immersed in iced water and placed it on my forehead, in hope of running down the temperature. Sounds cliche, but I was really touched. And when I think back on times when I often talk to her rudely and sometimes even take her for granted, I feel a sense of remorse in myself. But I am trying to spend more time with her, and I am glad that I've managed to do that on a more regular basis in recent times, taking her for movies more often now, and staying home for dinner whenever I can.

So I really appreciate it. Thank you mother.

Ok now on to what I did last weekend. In the morning, I pulled myself out of bed to join XY for swimming at Hougang Swimming Complex. With determination I managed to swim 20 laps. It was quite tiring for me ok! Considering I went gym just the day b4..haha. And after that we headed to Hougang Mall to eat the worst Claypot Rice on Earth. People please do not even attempt to try the Claypot Rice there because its really bad and after trying it you might not want to taste Claypot Rice ever again. Then during the evening I met up with the bunch of Grace, Thomas, JG, XM and Jacq. We went to have a good dinner at East Coast Lagoon (The food centre at ECP). Thomas ordered like there was no tomorrow and in the end he had to finish it all by himself. There were 2 plates of fried oyster, satay beehoon, stingray, mussels, chicken wings, fried snails (YES DAMNIT I ATE SNAILS!!), satay and all these were complimented with sugar cane juice and coconut juice. Thomas can really eat his fill and all of us were really bloated after that feast. Tom and Jacq suggested KBox thereafter, 2 of them being most enthu abt it but at the room they were not even singing at all. Why does KBox close at 1 on Saturdays ah? Or issit only the one at Marine Parade? I always tot they would close kinda late. But in the end, becuase it was only me n JG hogging the mike, I guess 1+ hr was sufficient singing. Haha.

Oh I have just rented another HK Drama Series, this one I am watching now has a whopping 40 episodes! Its called 'Lethal Weapons Of Love And Passion'. Sounds cool eh the title? Haha..

On a final note, Liverpool won Everton 3-1 with 10 men for most of the match! Did you see the goals by P.Neville, Garcia and Kewell?? Did you see did you see huh huh huh? Stunning beauty man! Especially the own goal...what a strike! =)Everybody will remember the win, and they will definitely forget about the Gerrard sending off with haste. Haha.

General elections

CURRENT MUSIC: YI YAN WAN NIAN by S.H.E

WOLF CREEK wasn't as terrifying as expected and I was really disappointed considering I paid 9.50 for this crap show. Not exactly crap, but I definitely expected more from it. If I had known, I would have insisted to Thomas that we watch 'The Dorm'. I so want to watch it after failing to catch 'Shutter'. But it's okayz, coz I have already bought the VCD and I will be watching it really soon. Thai movies are generally nice, so I would think 'The Dorm' would be good. Just look at films like 'Ong Bak', 'Tom-Yum-Goong', you know Thai movies will never be that bad. WOLF CREEK, if you ever want to watch it, should be a weekday show. Don't waste your time on weekends when you can spend it on more meaningful activities. Heh.

WOLF CREEK deserves only 2/5.

I feel pretty contented with myself as I really trained hard at the gym yesterday. I ran 2 sets of 1.6km on the treadmill, in between doing weights, bench press, lads pull-down and other machines. I'm certainly hoping this will continue on a consistent basis, and I'm setting aside Mon, Wed, Fri for gym. Hopefully I can discipline myself to head down and workout on these days. I have always believed in keeping fit. :)

I feel so sad for Steven Gerrard because his mistake ultimately cost Liverpool their most recent match against Arsenal. I really tot we could get a point out of that game but to be fair, Henry's Arsenal were brilliant. It's ironic because Gerrard was working his socks off and created the equaliser...only for him to make that error and present Henry with that easy goal. But nobody should blame him. Considering his contributions it would be unfair to play him down just because of that mistake. The whole Liverpool team is in a mess right now. I wonder how Gerrard feels really. Hez doing all the dirty work in midfield, supplying wonderful balls for Crouch, Moro and Cisse but they are never taking their chances. He muz be hell frustrated and I'm just worried he might leave the team like Owen if the situation doesn't turn for the better. No Gerrard, no Liverpool. So true. Aren't Liverpool missing Owen right now?

Let's talk about something that has been hitting the news daily. General elections. I luvv the General Elections. Such a waste that for this year I still can't cast my vote. Haha but even if I could it would probabaly be a walkover. Nobody seems keen on opposing at my GRC!! Haha...but I read the news a few days back and learned that my constituency might be facing competition from SDA!! Yay!! At least PAP has something to worry about here... Dun get me wrong.. it's not that I support the opposition or anything, but it's good to have opposition because you can listen to what they have to say.. And usually opposition candidates will be campaigning big-time and I would really relish the chance to head down to one of those open fields in my area to go listen to their loud, crude and maybe sometimes senseless opinions and resolutions. Look at incumbent MPs like Chiam(SDA) and Low(WP), they provide a channel to voice disapproval in Parliament which is healthy at times. Imagine a whole body of Parliament which is made up by all the white men from PAP. PAP will say we should follow this. Who will disapprove? Probably no one because all are pro-PAP. Hence, we should really admire some opposition candidates who can offer healthy competition to the governing body. Having said this, we shouldn't vote for opposition for the sake of voting for opposition. What is the use when the opposition can't do better than PAP? Not saying that the PAP is doing a marvellous job or anything, but if they are the best Singapore politics can offer, then we should stick with them.

Of course, we have seen the worst of opposition. Remember our infamous Dr. Chee? The person who can't contest this term due to bankruptcy? Haha..hez really a joke. Just last Saturday, Thomas and I were at Kino shopping for books and we came across this book written by him. And when Thomas scanned thru it he laughed at what he wrote. He showed me a portion of it and we both agreed it was seriously crap. For someone who can insult SM Goh publicly, he has seriously tarnished the reputation of opposition candidates trying to contest the elections.

Enough said. But I'm defintely looking forward to the elections, like I always do every 5 years. Haha.

My fucking poem

Fuckers seem to be everywhere around me,
and I have to encounter at least one fucker everyday.
Sometimes you really wonder what their fucking problem is,
because they never really seem to understand how fucked up they can be.
Fuckers have a distinct fucked up look,
and sometimes you really fuckin feel like punching them.
Fuckers will always be fuckers,
and they will never change for the fuckin better.
Just one last word to add,
if you think my fuckin poem is good,
please give a fuckin applause.

Parkway Parade carpark is a joke, while KGardens is cheap karaoke

Had lunch with my father on Saturday afternoon which meant I finally got the chance to drive the car. My last try at his car was actually 1+ months back, believe it or not. He decided to dine at Parkway since there was Giant there so that I could get my cheap new TV set because the old one friggin died on me on Thursday. I was rather uneasy when he said Parkway because I knew how the carpark was like there. Pretty fucked up. So squezzy and with so many twist and turns, it was a beginner's enemy. To make things worst, my parking is atrocious so I'm utterly not confident of parkin at that dumbo place as I'm afraid I would end up scratching the car body again. I fear multi-storey carparks :( But I had to face it. When I got in, I struck kerb once, and when I got out, I struck the kerb again. Be thankful I din hit the pillar or knock onto any other car or whatever. I was really relieved when we exited that cursed carpark. My driving has got lots to improve on. My parking, especially.:(

Was delighted to get my new TV set. Oh yes the brand is AKIRA again. A 14-inch TV for the price of $119. How's that? Quite cheap right. Anyway, if anyone wants to get a TV set like mine, you can't really find it anywhere nowadays besides place like GIANT because the electronics market is fuckin competitive. I was shopping with papi and everywhere was like flat-screen TVs, big and small. Harvey Norman doesn't sell those classic small TV sets, and Best Denki only had one such TV available for sale after we combed the whole TV department. How pathetic. Oh wells, it just goes to show how advanced technology is becoming.

Met up with class people later that evening. People who usually wouldn't turn up turned up! Haha..was quite impressed. Wei Ling and Ching Lok came along and I haven't seen the latter in like I dunno how long. But glad to know shez doing well current in NUS architecture. Wei Ling has become the sporty sort ever since shez joined SMU and dragon boat. So tanned now that she calls herself chao-ta girl. Haha. How funny. The rest who came included Russ, HJ, Ken, Koay, Jan , Becks, KY, KH and Greg. Dined in@Heeren Marche and we were at the centre of attention because our table was just next to the entrance and everybody who walked passed us had to look down on our table to see what we ordered to eat. Singaporeans. Haha. I bet if I were one of those passer-bys I probably would have done the same. Whaha.

Thereafter we headed to KGardens@Serangoon Gardens for a usual doze of karaoke. Sang till about 1am like that. KGardens is another Teo Heng I guess, only that it is slightly more expensive, with better service and drinks and a better selection of songs, which would probably make your money worth. This time round though, I dunno why, as concluded by Russ and myself, the atmosphere was rather boring unfortunately. Why? I dunno. After that it was supper@ Chomp Chomp with HJ of course ordering food like there's no tommorow again, despite the fact that most of the shops were closed by then. Oh Yew Teng joined us too and I had a good chat with him, talking about our primary school days, like whether we remembered people in class. Haha names like Greg Wu, Elvis, Edmund, Zhao Ming, CJ, Rayner Kong and Christopher Tham started popping out. We bitched about our form teacher Mrs Lim too and talked about other stuffz haha. Poor Kenneth had to fetch all of us back home once more, and I must really thank him for the ride home. If I ever get the chance to repay the favour, rest assured I will, Ken. Right now, I just do not have the car at my disposal.

IN CASE U DIDN'T KNOW BY NOW,

ITS LIVERPOOL 1 MAN UTD 0 !

And it's Peter Crouch, walking tall. I saw the goal in the replay, and what the hell, the header was damn powerful can. Well done Liverpool, keep it up against Benfica!

So what did you do on Valentine's?

Q: Did you enjoy yourself yesterday?
A: Sort of.

Q: So what exactly did you do yesterday?
A: Went out with my cousin and a few friends for dinner and karaoke for a short while.

Q: How much did you spend in all yesterday?
A: Eh.. More Than 20, Less Than 100.

Q: Do you have a valentine?
A: Unfortunately not.

Q: Do you wish you had a valentine?
A: You bet.

Q: How would you have celebrated Valentine's Day with your valentine if you had one?
A: For a first time, probably have dinner with her in a very nice and classy place, followed by a walk along the beach or something, somewhere quiet. I would have avoided those crowded city areas. A bouquet of flowers is a must, of course.

I had fun yesterday although it wasn't with my valentine. Both gals were also happy I guess coz they received a stalk of rose each from me and Thomas. But it's becoming such a sad thing because Feb 14 is becoming too commercialised. Prices are ridiculous as they are being increased by more than double over this period and it's really heartaching when you have to fork out the money (especially the guys). =( But all these is in the name of business and somehow someway we got to accept the fact. Also met a few buddies when I went out yesterday =)Zhi Yuan, Huei Siang, Russel, Melvin and Yew Teng. Was glad Yew Teng still recognised me. Those were the days in primary school when we were classmates. Haha.

So...did you enjoy yourself yesterday?

Good days are always followed by bad, and vice versa

CURRENT MUSIC: CARLITO'S THEME by WWE SUPERSTAR CARLITO

It's true. Good days are always followed by bad days, and then good days, and then bad days and this goes on and on. My most recent experience would date back to last Wednesday.

After work, I went down to town together with Shaun and met up with two of his friends. We had fast food for dinner and thereafter caught the movie 'Memoirs Of A Geisha'. I thought the movie wasn't fantastic, but it ain't that bad either. I'd give 3 stars for that. For 7 bucks, the show's worth the price and Jingyi agreed with me. Made two new friends in Jingyi and Ruby. Jingy is a very sociable girl, easy to talk to, whereas Ruby seems to be the quieter of the pair, but nevertheless shez still nice and sweet. Wednesday was a good day.

Then came Thursday. I woke up feeling extreme pain in the throat and I really could not bear myself goin to work in such pain. Hence, I decided to sleep on and report sick for the day. Stayed home to rest for the whole day. The diagnosis was flu and very bad sore throat. Doctor's medicine was great though, the lozenges provided made quick work of the irritating sore-throat. But the flu had other ideas and wouldn't go away. It was torturous Thursday indeed.

Friday was another bad day. Still sick, I forced myself to work. Tried my best to concentrate, but I finally surrendered to the sickening flu and reported sick at the medical centre. I do not understand why the doctors there are so reluctant to give MCs because I'm seriously sick and feeling so rotten, and yet the only words that came out from his mouth were, "Oh, not to worry, nothing serious, ok go wait for your medicine outside. I'll just give you a light duties slip." Like WTF rite. Went back to office and got permission to rest for a while and fortunately I felt better after the nap. Friday, however, was still a bad day, because my whole day was wasted sleeping my ass away.

The weekend was the transition period. Bad days are gone. Good days approach. In point form let me list down what went well that day:
- My flu condition wasn't as bad as compared to Thursday or Friday.
- I enjoyed the visit to my Aunt's place and got a few more hongbaos.
- I gambled and won quite a pile.
- I finally got to watch 'I Not Stupid 2', the show I'm most keen to see currently.

'I Not Stupid 2' was a great show, and as I told Gillian, I really love Jack Neo productions because his movies somehow bring out a Singaporean flavour in it. Perhaps his movies always have those hokkien lines which never fail to make me laugh. I don't know. This movie is definitely better than 'Memoirs Of A Geisha'. At least I think so. 4 stars I will rate for this movie. Of course, it really goes down to personal liking, I guess if I asked Shaun, he'd probably prefer Geisha. Hahz.

Frozen Desserts Island Creamery

CURRENT MUSIC: HUO YUAN JIA by JAY CHOU

Hell yeah Frozen Desserts Island Creamery tastes so good you'll find it hard to resist! Comes in the weirdest but delicious flavours like Teh Tarik, Banana, Horlicks and so many more. One small tub costs 8 bucks. Expensive eh, but its worth every cent of your money. Trust me.

This is my first time blogging ever since my trip to Penang and Phuket during the CNY period. I really enjoyed the trip alot, not only did I get to know people like Jacq and Thomas better, it was also a good opportunity for me to de-stress after facing so much 'pressure' at work. Wadever. It seems like I never get bored of Star Cruises. I've sat the same ship like 4 times I think, but I still enjoy it. The 24hr food hangout on Deck 7 still rocks like socks. The food is so good that I am willing to pay 10 bucks for a plate of Nasi Lemak. And yes, Kai An, if you are reading this, their Nasi Lemak is also great tasting, maybe you can try it if you ever get the chance to board the ship again..Haha..The only downside durin this trip was probably the fact that I lost money on board the ship's casino...=( Well, 100 bucks [heart pain]. But oh wells, I could hav won...if not for my greed. Lesson learnt. Phuket was great. Stuffz were cheap. I bought fake Birks for S$8, a pair of sunglasses S$6, a Levi's tee for S$20 (significantly cheaper than prices in Singapore) and a pair of surf shorts for S$10 which was damn nice but unfortunately I couldnt wear bcoz the cutting didn't fit me exactly well. Wasted sia. Nothin much to talk about for Penang. Only Tau Sar Piahs I guess! Terence loves them! Haha.

Watched Jet Li's 'Fearless' last Sunday with Mom and I'm impressed by Li's superb martial arts skills. If you are watching solely for the fighting scenes, you've got the right movie. If not, overall I would rate it average. 3 out of 5 stars. Watchable.

This guy that I unfortunately see almost everyday is slowly getting onto my nerves and I really can't stand him. Probably the most insensitive farkface I've ever came across. Blunt with words, coupled with shocking arrogance. Whether he meant it or not, I don't giv a damn. Hez really pissing me off.

Terence, no prizes for getting the right answer. =)

Idol fever

CURRENT MUSIC: YOU ARE MY ONLY LOVE by CYNDI WANG

Today I watched American Idol and Star Idol on Ch5 and Ch8 respectively.

I don't know whether is it because I haven't been watching AI for ages already or wad, but I really LOL throughout the whole show. American people are the best. They are like a zillion times more exaggerated as compared to Singapore Idol wannabes when participating in the auditions. I really enjoyed laughing throughout the show. Therez this particular one I wanna highlight. Paula and Randy actually allowed this guy I only know as 'Crazy Dave' through to the next round. What were they thinking??? He was awful and I bet they did this just to spite Simon. Haha. But when he went thru the audition I laughed like mad and almost had a heart attack. Recall those days where William Hung was introduced to the world. I think this guy will be the next big thing on idol. Hahahaha.

Guess wad. Favourite Bryan Wong has been eliminated from Star Idol. Well at least Jacqueline is still in the competition. Out of the 6 left, if I can choose a winner based purely on acting skills, it has to be her. So I will be supporting her all the way! I just can't believe that Leo Lam and Lincoln are still inside the competition. Their acting is too fake and I can't stand it when Leo gives that smug expression on his face. Wish he'd get out soon.

Nussini!

I WANT MORE *NUSSINI!!!!!

* Nussini is a hazelnut-covered crispy wafer bar filled with fine hazelnut cream that is so splendidly delicious and addictive. Covert with rich and tender Milka alpine milk chocolate, I have to say that this is heavenly tasty.

Thanks Grace! :)

I cannot understand how 8 Days rate movies. How can they give 'IN HER SHOES' 2.5 stars and give 'WALLACE N GROMIT' 4 stars? Incredible. Though I have not seen the latter, I think it's really kinda ridiculous to give it 4 stars right? Who watched it already? Please tell me it's a good show. As good as 'SHREK' or 'FINDING NEMO', perhaps??

Sunday, January 15, 2006

I'll be waiting

Have you watched 'In Her Shoes'?

Not bad a movie really..I liked it. If you are looking for something heartwarming and touching and anywhere near that line then you should catch it. If you are expecting a thriller or horror, don't even think about it coz I doubt you will appreciate the movie.

I will give it 3.5 stars. Haha.

Sent my cousin Kai An off this morning at the airport. Only the closest to him went to send him off because he claimed he didn't like the presence of too many people seeing him leave. I will probably have the same thinking as him if I ever get the chance to go for any overseas exchange like him next time. All the best to him and I figure it will be a torturing one-year for me..no more Saturday stay-overs..no more meet ups for movies others don't like..I will definitely miss your presence come this Chinese New Year coz you will not be back for the cruise vacation..Oh wells.. I'm sure you will enjoy it there...and how lucky la you! I will never dream of myself doing an exchange at UPenn! So you had better cherish it..Haha..

I hope one year will be over soon.... :)

Here are two pix from the latest 'class gathering' which took place on the 5th.

Left knee

My left knee is still a lil fucked up. Especially when I stand up after sitting down for a long time..

Still freakin contemplating if I should seek the help of a Chinese physician to see if there are no severe complications of any sort.

Reflections

CURRENT MUSIC: KISS GOODBYE by WANG LI HONG

Did you people watch Channel U's broadcast of the Ren Ci Charity Show on Sunday evening? I watched only certain parts of the show but what really caught me thinking hard was actually how the head of Ren Ci (Ming Yi Fa Shi...as they call it) was encouraging everyone to call in and make donations. Given the recent hype over the TT Durai-NKF case, I guess Singaporeans all over the island have probably lost a tremendous amount of confidence in charity organisations. People do not know if their donations really reach out to the needy...And that is completely justifiable. But Ming Yi Fa Shi never gave up. He had to do one of his two stunts under harsh weather conditions that night, and if not for the crew who did not give the go-ahead for the 2nd stunt, he would have braved the rain and went against all odds to complete the stunt..all in the hope of touching more people's hearts out there and gather more calls. Instead, he made use of the allocated air-time to plead with TV viewers to donate. And I believed he was really sincere in his speech:

1. He assured donors that every cent of their donations will definitely be used to help the needy patients of Ren Ci hospitals.

2. He explained that we should not condemn every charity organisation just because of one person's misdeeds in the management of a certain orgainistion.

3. He broke down in tears in front of all of us watching that night. If you watched and you didn't feel anything at all after hearing what he had to say then I think it's pretty sad for you because you are as good as a cold-blooded person.

4. He emphasized that we should not give up calling to donate at such a turbulent time with regards to charity organisations becuase the patients are still hoping hard that we who can donate have not given up on them.

5. He said that us viewers and donors were not the only victims, and instead, the patients and those who need help financially to treat their illnesses feel most cheated by the fact that a certain oragnisation managed their funds in such a manner that they do not receive maximum benefits from donors.

His words really made me reflect on this issue heavily. My mother was so moved by what he said that she called in on the spot to give her full support. Plenty to ponder...Often we claim that we are victimised, but I bet many of you have never put yourselves in the needy's point of view...they too feel extremely cheated. So, what is your take on this issue?

Ming Yi Fa Shi. He deserves my utmost respect.

Currently watching this recently filmed HK Drama that I rented. 'Revolving Doors Of Vengeance', and I'm loving the show so much! The theme song is so nice and I love main actor Joe Ma(Ko Fung). Hez just too cool to be true. His charismatic nature really brings out the charming persona in him. If I were a HK woman I would have idolized him. Haha.

Oh Sanjiv/Sanjay, when do you want to start our fitness program proper? I'm all set to go man. Fix a time and we can all head down over to your place to do some good workout dudes! :)

Nose-digger of the millenium

Recently on my travels to work I have been seeing this particular old man at this certain bus stop almost like everyday. He is the most disgusting, gross, fucked up person I have ever met in my life so far. He makes me sick, and totally pisses me off most of the time. I don't know him...so why do I have this huge amount of hatred against this old man, of all old people, you might ask?

1. He digs his bloody nose like nobody's business. And when I say that, I mean it. On the average, he has to stick his finger up his nostril like every 30 seconds.

2. If that is not bad enough, his way of digging his nose is totally fucked up. He digs so hard, that everybody can see his nostrils rotate 360 degrees with the nose bone acting as a pivot. I dunno what's he looking for, but oh my god I suspect he thinks there is something really valuable up his fuckin nostrils.

3. I had a very bad encounter with this old man on the bus. He just doesn't care. Apparently the bus I take is always very crowded so we gotta squeeze. And this old man unfortunately always alights a few stops before mine..and there was this particular time he just forced his way thru a very packed bus and in the process he knocked into me rather strongly and I got realy pissed off. It was not as if the bus was gonna leave without him alighting, so why can't he just wriggle his way out slowly?

Sad to say, until today I still see this nose-digger often and I dunno if it's just me or what, I will try to distance myself away from him because I get really disgusted by his actions. Granted, people do dig their noses, but please if you want to do it, do it DISCREETLY for hell's sake! Not in front of so many people! Everytime I bump into him, I foresee a bad day at work..
